Hall Beckley Canyon Hike

(weather permitting)
Take a walk in the San Gabriel Mountains, La Canada, where the
mountains meet the city for amazing views and perhaps some early
season wildflowers.
Directions to meeting place:
Meet in the parking lot of Palm Crest School at 5025 Palm Dr. in La Canada.
- From downtown L.A.: take the 110 N towards Pasadena to 5 N, to 2 N
(towards Glendale)
- From 2 NORTH take Foothill Blvd exit, turn left onto Foothill, and
turn right onto Palm Dr.
- From 210 EAST exit at Angeles Crest Hwy/CA-2, turn left onto Angeles
Crest Hwy, turn right onto Foothill Blvd, drive 1.1 miles on Foothill,
and turn right onto Palm Dr.
From the 210 WEST exit at Ocean View Blvd., turn left onto Ocean
View,
turn right onto Foothill, drive .6 miles, and then turn left onto Palm
Dr.
Things to bring: A hat, sunblock, water, snack , and sturdy
shoes or boots.
Difficulty:
Moderate- 4 miles roundtrip, elevation gain 800 feet.
This is a 2 hour walk, all but the last 100 feet is on a fire road.
There is opportunity to explore steep little side trails if you like,
but the main path is stroller friendly (for the ones with big wheels)
and dog approved. We'll hike on a sunny south-facing slope... hats,
sunglasses, and water will keep you cool.
